Another day of travelling behind us, we travelled on the ferry back from Panglao over to Cebu, from there we had to take on a long drive to the next accommodation. Almost three hours later we finally arrived at our accommodation for the next few days. We took a walk down through the town to watch the sun set and found ourselves in a market place that evening for tea with lots of different cuisines on offer so we could all eat different things. This ended up being a place we enjoyed going to for three of the four nights we stayed here.

The following day we went canyoneering. We were picked up at 8:30 and had to take the journey in the back of an open van where we picked up several other people en route. Unfortunately, this meant we had to endure a journey packed in like sardines, hot and sticky, with some unbearable people who thought that culture was simply drinking in different countries and listening to awful music through a portable speaker, all whilst the other half of the bus tried not to feel so nauseous.

We were very relieved to finally arrive at the activity HQ. They suited us up in life jackets and helmets and then stuck us all back into the back of the same bus to the top of the falls, much to our annoyance.

Luckily for us, we worked our way around the falls in our own group. We had one guide per person to look after us, which was handy when they had to yank us up rocks one by one.

They really threw us in the deep end with this activity though, the first thing we were faced with was a 7m jump straight into the water.

After this it seemed less scary, lots of clambering over rocks and jumping off smaller outcrops and swimming in the beautiful lakes. We had a lot of fun during this activity and chatted with the guides as we made our way through and they were sure to take the opportunity to take lots of photos and videos of us along the way, some came out better than others.

The guides seemed to also really enjoy hearing the very British noises we seemed to make when we slipped of tripped over anything along the way. One even scared us by barking like a dog from under a rock as we walked past, which worked remarkably well for him and scared us adequately enough that he got a good laugh out of it, our hearts jumped out of our chest however as we’d been trying to avoid stray dogs the whole holiday.

They also liked to put us in a chain and pull us all backwards through some of the shallow water. It was much harder to stay surfaced properly at the end of the line than the start and they also managed to get us to make a star formation floating in the water.

The final jump was the real test. We had to run and jump off a platform 11m in the air. All five of us actually made this jump, some more willingly than other, but very proud of us for all doing that.

Once we’d finished canyoneering, they fed us a lovely lunch where we had to put up with the same unbearable people as from the bus. Great food, disappointing company. Even the guides seemed to see our disgust with their behaviour and were laughing at the faces we pulled. Safe to say we weren’t too upset that we almost left without them.

Was a great activity overall though and would 100% do it again. I think it might be the most fun we’ve had so far and we managed to not overheat during it which was nice too and made a change from so far this holiday. my waterproof also somehow survived the jumps from 7m plus and my phone is 100% still in tact so thanks to my mum for getting that for me.
