Boat Trip Day!

We had the Monday off to not do anything and make sure we were rested and ready for the next day because the next day was a boat trip!
Luckily enough, the hostel had its own tour company located in the lobby so we booked all our activities through them during our stay. This also meant that the tour started in the lobby, meaning we could hear everyone gathering before we could see them. The tour guides all seemed to have much more energy than any of us and we definitely didn’t resent the time in quiet when we sat on the boat.
The boat trip itself was actually very fun and definitely worth doing. We had 5 stops in total during the trip and jumped off the boat at every one of them. I say jumped because that’s really what it felt like because despite the fact that they put down a ladder for us to descend, we were still hopping neck deep into the sea at some points. This also lead me to losing my sunglasses at one point when I deboarded the boat. This was my second pair of sunglasses after sitting on my first ones and snapping off the arm on the ferry. I am now on my third pair of sunglasses in 3 weeks after keeping the same pair for so many years before.
By this point in our stay in the hostel, we were on our final roommate. Following the first guy, we had a girl in called Tess, who was with us for 2 nights, then a girl who I’m sure was only in the room for about 4 hours starting at 1am and finally Simón from Chile. He was a great guy and actually came on the boat tour with us, which made six of us so it was much easier getting ourselves in the kayaks that we hired on one of the stops.

At a couple of the stops we hopped off the boat and played some volleyball. The first stop for volleyball was not the most ideal for us as the sand was extremely hot and it was too difficult to run around and try to play the game. The next volleyball stop was much easier to play on and we all managed to get some touches in but still lost every game we played. The tour guides attempted to play alone or with the people actually capable of after we gave up. It was fun to have a go at the sport though and we all ended up on the floor at least once, covered in sand.
Lunch was provided for us at stop number 3 and was tasty but very typical at this point in the trip and we all sat on the sand to eat. It was also someone’s birthday on the trip and he was provided with a cake that we thought he was going to drop in the sea when he got off the boat back near the hostel. I also think this is the location I lost my sunglasses.
After lunch was a snorkelling and swimming opportunity that I decided not to take so I walked around the boat a bit more and watched from it while the other snorkelled.

It was a very long day out on the trip and by the end of it I was ready to have a sit down and rest, but that’s not what we got to do. That evening we went to the trivia night, where we made a team of 5 consisting of me, Georgia, Simón and two Australian girls we met up there. The others were in a team of their own because the people they’d agreed to meet up with hadn’t showed up. We thought we’d put in a valiant effort in the quiz but we still didn’t manage to win, although we got recognition for aiming close. But honestly, I think the host was disappointed in everyone because no one managed to get over 20 out of the 30 questions, and this was even after arguing about some of the answers. Seems like trivia wasn’t as much our forte as we believed it to be.
