A Blog?!

The idea of writing came about when I saw that a friend from school was doing the same. I really enjoyed reading about her travels through it and the pictures that adjoined it, so shout out to Alex for the inspiration. There were a few other reasons I decided that writing a blog was a good idea, however.
First, I am the type of person who likes to document my holidays and travels to look back on. I am also the type of person that watches my own Instagram stories back over and over again, which is the way I have been somewhat recording my holidays for several years now. The problem with Instagram stories is they lack the emotion and reasoning behind what’s been going on, which I think is sometimes necessary in the photos I take.
Secondly, I thought about who might really be interested in what I’ve been up to on my travels. Mainly, my family, and perhaps my co-workers, who do not typically have access to my Instagram stories. This way, they can read about what I'm doing in more detail, which I think they’ll enjoy.
Finally, as a person who generally likes to write (as long as it’s not assessed so please don’t give me any marks unless you decide it will be an A*) and as I will be mostly travelling alone, I am suspecting I will have some time on my hands. I’m anticipating this will be a fun way to document my adventures in a more genuine way and fill up some of that time.
Really, it is a surprise that writing a blog has never occurred to me before. As someone who has had the immense pleasure to be able to travel with their family to amazing places, I definitely have things to talk about and once in a lifetime experiences that would’ve been good to write about. But here we are, and where is the best place to start but by throwing yourself to the other side of the world on your own to give you something to write about?
